PROGRAM:

In a grief-avoidant culture, it can be difficult for clients to understand and process their emotions of loss. In this workshop, we will discuss death and non-death losses, as well as developmentally appropriate reactions to grief across the lifespan.

We will also consider strategies for promoting healthy coping and fostering resilience in our clients and communities.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify common death and non-death losses impacting children, adolescents, and adults.

  2. Describe common emotional, social, physical, and spiritual reactions to loss.

  3. Explore continuing bonds after death and their relevance to clinical practice with bereaved clients.

  4. Compare modern models of grief counseling.

  5. Examine the Core Principles of Grief-Informed Practice.
